Fionnuala Gygax

We were thrilled to have Fionnuala with us as one of our Activate Residents in 2021 and to have the opportunity to produce her debut play Lúminaria – a stunning play for children and schools. You can read more about Lúminaria in our Production Support section

 

Fionnuala is an actor/theatre-maker and writer from Dublin. She is a founding member of Chaos Factory, who premiered their first production Kiss Kiss Slap Slap in the Dublin Fringe Festival 2018 and are currently developing their second production Morph Me, supported by the Arts Council.

 

Performance credits include Morph Me (Live Collision), Finky (Abú Media), Kiss Kiss Slap Slap (Dublin Fringe), Love A La Mode (Colm Summers), The Shitstorm (Maeve Stone, Peacock Theatre), Toraíocht (Mikel Murfi), The Seagull and Other Birds and Cascando (Gavin Quinn, Pan Pan Theatre), HOSTEL 16 (Raymond Keane) and Eipic (Louise Ní Fhiannachta, TG4).

Writing credits include Below Below (Gaiety School of Acting graduation show, 2019), Glasshouse (In development), Lúminaria (supported by Backstage Longford throughout 2019), Boy In the Boat (Still Loading Festival, The Ark, 2018) HOSTEL 16 (Dublin Fringe 2016), Homebirds (Smock Alley, 2017), and libretto of Opera Theatre Company’s first 24 hour opera (Chocolate Factory, 2017).

She was awarded a FUEL residency with Druid in 2015 with Hostel 16. In 2017, she was nominated for the Stewart Parker writing award for HOSTEL 16. Fionnuala was awarded the ‘Next Generation’ award from the Arts Council in 2017/2018. She was a participant on the Pan Pan International Mentorship programme, 2019, mentored by Johanna Freiburg (She She Pop, Gob Squad). She is a Six in the Attic artist with Irish Theatre Institute for 2019/2020. She was recently chosen for the i-Portunus mobility scheme by Creative Europe to develop a production, Watch Me, in the Ballhaus Ost theatre, Berlin.
