An ensemble of performers from St Christopher’s Services, Longford and The Visual Theatre Programme in Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray devised a theatre production under the direction of Gemma Gallagher of Shadowbox Theatre Company who created work that challenges expectations and perceptions about disability.

In Nov 2018 Backstage Theatre and Creative Ireland Longford in association with Captain Moonlight Theatre Company will be staging a new musical adaptation of Castle Rackrent Maria Edgeworth’s legendary comic masterpiece to celebrate the 250th anniversary of her birth.

In an alternate Ireland of 2016, a group of armed students called ‘The Right Fight’ occupy Longford Court House. They are protesting the Government’s new ‘Non-Irish’ laws which mean that only people born in Ireland are entitled to be Irish citizens.
