Following a sell-out premiere, The Cable arrives at Backstage Theatre as part of a national and international tour, supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
Written and performed by Mike Kelly and directed by Aidan Dooley (Tom Crean: Antarctic Explorer), this compelling new production is co-produced by Siamsa Tíre.
Set on Valentia Island during the laying of the Transatlantic Cable, the play unfolds a poignant story of love, loss, and the enduring human need for connection at a time of extraordinary change.
Featuring recorded original Irish music by Dave McGilton, The Cable combines rich storytelling with emotional depth and theatrical intensity.
Rooted in Irish heritage and brought to life through Siamsa Tíre’s distinctive theatrical style, this is a powerful and immersive production.
The Cable promises an unforgettable evening of drama as it tours stages at home and abroad.
Siamsa Tíre is gratefully funded by The Arts Council of Ireland, Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and Kerry County Council.
