Céilí Afro Dabke is Ireland’s first world music céilí. It vibrantly mixes and merges African dance, traditional dabke dance from the Levant (Palestine, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon), old style Irish céilí dances and Ukrainian folk dance.
Backstage first hosted Céilí Afro Dabke Ukraine in 2022, as a way to bring people from all cultures together, extending a warm invitation to everyone to meet and dance with your neighbours from around the world.
Céilí Afro Dabke is a core part of The Welcoming Project, a dance programme designed to foster cultural integration and social inclusion.
