CHOP is a dangerously funny, wildly absurd descent into fragile masculinity, environmental collapse, and the insatiable hunger for more. Expect real danger, real questions, zero solutions…. and a lot of laughs.

This is the kind of show you come out buzzing from: funny, physical, slightly dark, and full of heart. At its centre is a lone wood-chopper stuck in a strange, end-of-the-world loop, hacking away as everything around him falls apart.

Following the acclaimed success of musical Dream Factory, circus-comedy outfit Lords of Strut returns with CHOP, a bold, hilarious, and heartfelt solo show written and performed by Cian Kinsella. The spotlight is on environmental destruction and performative masculinity, two deeply connected issues.. explored through slapstick, clowning, and classic Lords of Strut absurdity.“I needed it to be funny,” says Kinsella. “The topics are heavy, biodiversity loss, climate collapse… but laughter gets us in the room. Once there, we can talk.”

Far from a lecture, CHOP is a visceral, laugh-out-loud experience with a powerful message. “This is a show about hope, urgency, and being human,” Kinsella says. “It’s okay to care, it’s okay to not have all the answers. The conversation needs to start, and action needs to follow.”

Blending slapstick, clowning, and high-energy physical comedy… with real axes and real wood chopping! CHOP turns eco-anxiety, masculinity, and our messy relationship with the planet into a fast, joyful, and surprisingly moving experience.
